Surcharges From Sales of Commemorative Coin Authorized to Support Construction of American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in Washington, D.C.
(DELRAY BEACH, FL) – February 26, 2010 – The United States Mint has officially released the 2010 American Veterans Disabled for Life Silver Dollar, the first commemorative coin issued in 2010. The coin was officially launched by the Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial Foundation yesterday at a reception at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. Former Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony Principi, Director of the United States Mint Ed Moy, Senator Tim Johnson (D: South Dakota), Senator James Inhofe (R: Oklahoma); U.S. Representatives Mark Kirk (R: Illinois) and Dennis Moore (D: Kansas);
National Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Bobby Barrera, Co-Founder and Chairman of the Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial Foundation Lois Pope and President and CEO of TriWest Healthcare Alliance David McIntyre, among others, were on hand to celebrate the coin’s launch.
In addition to being a keepsake commemorative, the surcharges collected for the sales of the new silver dollar are authorized to benefit the Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial Foundation, the organization raising the private funds for the construction of the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial in the Nation’s capital. The planned memorial will be the first in Washington, D.C. dedicated to living disabled veterans across all service branches and all areas of conflict.

POKER PLAYERS ANTED UP FOR DISABLED VETERANS
DAILY POKER TOURNAMENTS AT ISLE CASINO RAISE MORE THAN $13,000
The Disabled Veterans’ LIFE Memorial Foundation is proud to announce that Isle Casino Pompano Park has raised $13,215 towards building The American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, the nation’s first permanent memorial honoring disabled veterans.
The money was raised during daily poker tournaments at the casino from October 9 to November 11, 2009. In honor of Veterans Day and the nearly three million permanently disabled veterans across America, poker players at the Isle gave a $5 donation to the Foundation to buy 500 extra poker chips.
“We are delighted that Isle Casino Pompano Park generously partnered with us to help raise awareness and funds for our cause,” said DVLMF Co-Founder and President Arthur H. Wilson. “We are thrilled with the result. Thanks to their support and generosity, we had the opportunity to spread the mission of our foundation to a wider audience.”
